Clinical Services with adults

Physiological state impacts on our behaviour, thoughts and emotions and prepares us to be welcoming or defensive to others and situations, which support or disrupt health and wellbeing” Dr Stephen Porges

I work with adults who have experienced complex trauma and are presenting with a range of symptomatology, including co -morbid medical conditions. Symptoms and conditions that are chronic and difficult to diagnose and treat, can be attributed to a dysfunctional autonomic nervous system. I have experience in working with adults with emotional and behavioural presentations such as: Anxiety; depression; addiction; PTSD; and challenging relationships. As well as physical symptoms such as: digestive disorders; autoimmune disease; chronic fatigue; chronic pain; and migraines.

Processing past traumas will result in a decrease and/or elimination of distress from disturbing unprocessed memories, and relief from current bodily disturbance. This therapeutic approach also creates a physiological state that is less defensive and more open to social connection. If the autonomic nervous system is feeling safe and calm there will be less negative impact on behaviours, thoughts and emotions. Co-regulation between the body and mind will enable co-regulation between yourself and others. This enhances capacity to self-regulate, leading to good mental health and well-being.
